Spring Equinox 2021

The Spring Equinox is a powerful turning point—a time of renewal, rebirth, growth, and letting go. It’s no secret that Spring is my favourite time of year. There’s a palpable sense of hope in the air: longer daylight hours, gentler winds, budding trees, blossoming flowers – yellow daffodils are everywhere, butterflies dancing, birds singing, and a slow rise in temperatures (usually!). There’s just so much to be thankful for.

Spring also marks the start of the astrological new year, so the energy is extra potent. Over the years, I’ve written many posts about Spring—flick back through my blog, news page, or Instagram for more inspiration.

While we still face challenges in the wake of the pandemic, today—Spring Equinox Saturday—is a moment to focus on uplifting rituals that help us mark the changing season with intention and beauty. Rituals help us commemorate an ending or a beginning—both central themes of Spring—and can be deeply healing for the mind, body, and soul.

So, whether you’re still in lockdown or lucky enough to be somewhere like the Caribbean (in which case, enjoy a spa ritual at Spa – Rockhouse Hotel & Spa OR Spa - Skylark Negril Beach Resort  here are some simple, soulful Spring Equinox rituals to inspire and uplift.

Plant Some Seeds

Nature is such an amazing way to monitor progress. Fun tips; Make this a creative project, use whatever space you have (you don’t have to have a big garden) use bright pots, an inspirational planting design, ignite that window box. Get your children involved and enjoy mother natures wonder together

I always plant seeds on the Spring Equinox—both in the garden and in my mind. What you plant grows. If you’re constantly sowing thoughts like “I’m not good enough,” “I’m not lucky,” or “I’ll never succeed,” how can you expect abundance, positivity and joy to sprout up in your life?

Use today to physically plant something and symbolically plant the seeds of new behaviours, hopes, and ventures. As your plants grow, they’ll remind you of the seeds you planted mentally and what you’re cultivating in your life. Nature is such an amazing way to monitor progress.

Cleansing & Decluttering

You know I’m all about bathing rituals—my go-to for stress relief and energetic reset. One of the most delicious ways to unwind, reset, and come back to yourself. So, why not end your Spring Equinox with a hot bath, a flickering candle, and a well-deserved glass of something chilled?

Add in your favourite essential oils, mineral salts, or herbal infusions and let the water do its magic—cleansing away anxiety and replenishing your energy. While you soak, grab your journal and reflect on all the beautiful seeds you’ve planted today.

But first, before stepping into the tub, take a moment to pause and ask yourself:

  • What do I need to let go of?

  • What beliefs, behaviours, or patterns are holding me back?

  • What physical or emotional clutter needs clearing?

Then sink into the healing waters. Let your intuition rise. Revisit those questions. Breathe. Release. Reconnect. Allow the bath to wash away what no longer serves you and create space for the new to bloom.

Decluttering the Space to Declutter the Mind

If a full-on spring clean feels overwhelming,  start small—just a drawer, a shelf, a cupboard. Physical clutter clogs energetic flow. But when you clear it? Boom—clarity!

You’ll be surprised what comes up as you sort through old books, half-filled notebooks, clothes you never wear, or expired pantry items. Sometimes you’ll even find answers to questions you didn’t know you’d been carrying.

As you tidy, shift, and simplify, you’re not just making your home feel fresher—you’re creating breathing space for your mind, your emotions, and your future.

Vision & Dream Boards

One of my absolute favourite rituals –Creating A Vision Board is a powerful, fun and amazing tool/riutal to clarify your dreams and manifest your heart’s desire.

After months (or years) of putting life on hold, coming out of this dark time, it’s time to dream again. As we step into a new chapter, this ritual can help you focus on the future you want to create.

Gather old magazines, head to Pinterest, and create a vision board that sets the tone for your next season. Don’t overthink—just follow your inspiration, have fun with it get your vision board goddess grove on. The spring equinox is the perfect day to start that Vision/Dream Board. I will be doing a big blog post on Vision/Dream boards so watch this space.

Aromatherapy

The foundation of my spa work is built on Aromatherapy Sensory Therapy—guiding guests through powerful sensory journeys. Essential oils are the plant’s life force and, used properly, can profoundly shift your mood and wellbeing.

Aromatherapy affects the brain via the olfactory system, linking scent directly to our emotions and mental state. It's why essential oils can uplift, ground, inspire, or calm us in just moments.

Spring Favourite: Release
A fresh, uplifting blend of Basil, Spearmint, Peppermint, and Lemon—Release is perfect for the season. It inspires, liberates, and elevates your spirit.

Time spent in nature is one of the simplest yet most profound healers. It lifts the mood, stimulates the senses, and connects us to something greater. Today, take a long walk and mindfully notice the signs of Spring. Watch, listen, breathe it all in. Say hello to Mother Nature and thank her for all that is to come.

Weave It All Together

Plant your seeds. Create your vision board. Declutter your space. Walk in nature. Then end the day with a luxurious aromatherapy bath.

These are not just lovely rituals—they are powerful ways to align with the natural rhythms of life. Today is a moment to pause, reflect, and set intentions. Your seeds are planted. You know how to nurture them. You know what you’re letting go of. Now light that candle, run that bath, and breathe in the possibility of your vibrant new chapter.

Well done. You’ve made a beautiful start.
Happy Spring Equinox!
